PSEi rally ends short of 6,000 points
The Philippine Stock Exchange index ( PSEi) failed to reach the 6,000-point mark despite late buying on Friday.
The PSE index closed at 5,999.40, up 54.53 points. In the broader market, there were 93 gainers, 92 losers and 57 unchanged.
Volume reached 1.47 billion shares worth P4.91 billion from Thursday’s 1.96 billion shares valued at P5.42 billion.
Most active shares were led by Dito CME Holdings, up 46 centavos to P5.76; Metro Pacific, up 15 centavos to P3.70; PLDT, up P24 to P1,364.
The peso closed at P48.48 against the US dollar from Thursday’s P48.43. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $814.9 million from Thursday’s $807.6 million. DMS
