TRB poised to impose penalties on toll operators who violate IRR on cashless transactions

The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB ) is poised to impose penalties, even suspend toll collection by toll operators who continue to violate the Implementing Rules & Regulations (IRR) in the implementation of the cashless  transaction on toll expressways.

Continuing Operations and Systems audit in the enforcement of cashless transaction in toll plazas, has identified glitches that have been brought to the attention of the toll operators.

These glitches, admitted by the North Luzon Expressway Corporation (NLEX Corp) to be happening, are not new to TRB management and were subject to notices to correct.

In the case of Valenzuela City cancellation of mayors permit of NLEX, this is a matter between the City of Valenzuela and the NLEX operator. We have been assured that this is being given appropriate attention and hoped to be resolved very soon.

TRB has identified actions needed to be taken by operators to achieve least inconvenience in this program intended to help stop the spread of coronavirus.

The Toll Operators have been ordered to aggressively pursue and consistently implement the following measures previously instructed to them by the TRB:

1. Immediate replacement of worn out/defective sensors(readers), related rfid equipments and rfid tags.

2. Relocate/reposition rfid installation & reloading lanes that hamper traffic flow.

3. Maintain/Improve/upgrade systems software

4. Enhance traffic management.

5. Improve customer service assistance among others. TRB
