WHO commits to deliver 117,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine by April – Dizon
Gov’t eyes to vaccinate up to 300,000 individuals daily
The Philippine government is eyeing to vaccinate 250,000 to 300,000 individuals once the supply of vaccines against coronavirus becomes stable, an official said on Wednesday.
In the “Laging Handa” public briefing, National Task Force Against COVID-19 and Deputy Chief Implementer and Testing Czar Vivencio Dizon said they would also study the possibility of having 24/7 or three shifts a day for vaccinators.
“Our target is 250,000 to 300,000 (persons) a day, but it depends on the (vaccine) supply that we can get,” he said.
Dizon said the government has to manage the situation when more vaccines arrive in the country.
“We can have two to three shifts per day so that when we inoculate the general public, there will be more (people to be vaccinated) and it will be faster,” he said.
Currently, of the 1.1 million doses of China’s Sinovac and United Kingdom’s AstraZeneca vaccines delivered in the country, about 60 percent have been deployed nationwide, Dizon said.
