CSAFP installs new ‘Kaugnay’ Division Commander

FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija — The Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Lieutenant General Andres C. Centino installed the new Commander of the 7th Infantry (KAUGNAY) Division, Philippine Army at Multi-purpose Hall, Kaugnay Hall, 7ID Fort Magsaysay, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija on December 03, 2021.
Acting Commander of 7ID, Brigadier General Luis Rex D. Bergante PA relinquishes his position to former Deputy Commander of Northern Luzon Command and former 703rd Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Andrew D. Costelo PA.
In his message, BGen Bergante expressed his gratitude to the senior officers of the Division in his stint as the Acting Commander of 7ID.
BGen Bergante will then assume his former position as Assistant Division Commander of 7ID.
Meanwhile, the newly installed Division Commander encouraged the ‘Kaugnay’ Troopers to commit the KAUGNAY spirit in the accomplishment of their mission: “Keep in step; Adapt innovations; Uphold Integrity; Grow and empower; Nurture excellence; Advocate responsibility, and Yield positive results.”
BGen Costelo belongs to Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis- Lahi” Batch 1990.
In his speech, Lieutenant General Centino commended the notable decisive military operations that yield accomplishments of 7ID under BGen Bergante.
The Command gained exceptional accomplishments following the successful implementation of 6,033 tactical operations; surrender of 37 NPA in the Barrio or Milisyang Bayan, and 255 Underground Mass Organizations including the declaration of 11 KKER Barangays with 10 Sitios under KLG-TARZAM in Tarlac, Zambales and Pangasinan and 29 KKER Barangays under KLG-AMPIS in Ilocos Sur and Mt. Province.
He then emphasized the importance of operational efficiency of all Army units that every activity or operation must yield positive results and the optimal use of its resources.
Prior to the ceremony was the de-militarization of 23 Confiscated, Captured, Surrendered, and Recovered firearms (CCSR) led by Lieutenant General Centino together with the new 7ID Commander and top military officers of the command.
