A magnitude 6.4 quake shook residents in Abra and other areas in the north at 10:59 pm Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology(Phivolcs) said Tuesday.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said it is expecting damage and aftershocks from the quake whose epicenter was located seven kilometers northwest of Tineg, Abra.
This is near the place where a magnitude 7.0 quake occurred in Tayum on July 27.
Phivolcs said it is not expecting a tsunami from the tectonic quake that had a depth of 27 kilometers.
Intensity V was reported in Sinait, Ilocos Sur and Intensity IV was recorded in Baguio.
Instrumental intensities were V in Gonzaga, Penablanca, Claveria, Cagayan; Pasuquin, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
Instrumental Intensity IV was reported in Bangued, capital of Abra and III in Baler, Aurora; Ilagan, Isabela. DMS
